Cheese Farm in Chiswick!

sue4472

Strand on the Green was named in 1353 (Strand meaning shore) and has a long history. Industries included malt-houses, repair yards, barge-builders and wharves. Chiswick gets its name from the Old English for 'cheese farm'. Mixed in with industries, grand Georgian villas enjoyed the views of The Thames. The only industry left today are the pubs and The Bell and Crown in this picture is classic 'Victoriana.

I have two landscape pictures of this section of Strand on the Green in Chiswick. A great gift available online - landscape width 60cms or 95cms. Limited Edition.
