Chiswick Park Station wasn't always a fabulous design!

The station was opened on 1 July 1879. Services were electrified on 1 July 1905. Between 1931 and 1932 the station was rebuilt and designed by Charles Holden in a modern European style using brick, reinforced concrete and glass. Holden's design was inspired by Alfred Grenander's underground station Krumme Lanke in Berlin.

This photo shows the ticket office before the rebuilding.

My picture - below - shows the 'new' Art-Deco design including the tower with the Underground logo rising high above the building so that potential passengers could see it from Chiswick High Road.
